Dr. Sonal Deshpande is a gentle, caring dentist who uses the most advanced materials and procedures available. She practices comfortable, caring dentistry focused on establishing optimal oral health, with a strong emphasis on getting to know each patient. In addition to her technical proficiency, Dr. Sonal Deshpande is a careful listener and will explain beforehand which treatment is best for your individual needs.
Dr. Sonal Deshpande received her doctorate from the New York University School of Dentistry. She has since taken many continuing education courses, including those in dental implants, dental cosmetics, and children’s dentistry. Dr. Sonal Deshpande is also a member of numerous dental organizations. When away from her dental office, the doctor enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids.
Dr. Sonal Deshpande is committed to lifelong learning and participates in numerous hours of continuing education courses each year. Advanced training in cosmetic, restorative, implant, and sedation dentistry, and certification in Invisalign® allows her to give you a smile that is healthy and looks the way you always imagined it could. Dr. Sonal Deshpande is specially trained in laser dentistry and uses lasers when it is appropriate for your dental care.

Dr. Irina Trakhtman, the founder and the original owner of Brilliant Smiles of North Brunswick, started the practice in 1999 with one goal, to change people's lives...one smile at a time. "My dream was to create a dental home for people who want to be cared for, with personal attention and genuine compassion. For almost 30 years my mission has been to create a truly extraordinary experience for each and every patient."
Dr. Trakhtman graduated in1989 from MGMSU and in1993 from NYU College of Dentistry. She has been a longtime member of the ADA and NJDA. Dr. Trakhtman has been an Invisalign provider for over 20 years. To enhance her patients' experience, she offers facial cosmetic injections, including Botox and Dermal fillers such as Juvederm.
In her spare time, Dr. Trakhtman loves spending time with her family. She enjoys hiking, ballroom dancing, and painting. You can find her art throughout the office.

Dr. Steven Reff uses his extensive dental experience to provide the highest level of surgical care in a gentle, compassionate manner. He is your dental implants specialist at Brilliant Smiles of North Brunswick in North Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Reff received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry where he graduated at the top of the class.
He was also a member of the prestigious Gamma Pi Delta Prosthetic Honor Society as well as President of the dental school's Global Outreach Program and Oral and Maxillofacial study group.
Dr. Reff completed his surgical-based training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he has admitting privileges and periodically teaches postgraduate dental students in addition to maintaining his private practice.
When he is not practicing dentistry or pursuing professional development, Dr. Reff enjoys hiking with his yellow lab, fly-fishing, and spending time with his wife and children.
Registered Dental Hygienist
At the age of 11, Fotini M. RDH knew she was destined to work in the health care field. It wasn’t until she shadowed her hygienist, that she realized she too wanted to be a hygienist. By 18 she obtained her first dental assistant position for a local general dentistry, while enrolled in the Dental Hygiene School at MCC college. Fotini at this time was able to expand her dental experience while going to school during the day and working in various dental offices in the evenings.
She certainly has a passion to always strive to expand her scope of practice to accommodate the needs of her patients. Her special interests include improving her patients’ oral and dental health. She strives in educating her patients on the importance of oral health and how it affects their overall general health; medical issues can be recognized during a routine dental visit here at Brilliant Smiles of North Brunswick. Fotini understands how important oral and general health is. Registered Dental Hygienist
Reginald L. Sylvestre obtained his degree from Middlesex County College (MCC) in 2012 and loves making people smile. With 10+ years of experience as a registered licensed dental hygienist, Reggie is fully committed to his patients’ smiles and dental health. He is registered and experienced in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (monitor). He is dedicated to serving people of all ages and backgrounds and believes in working closely with his colleagues to ensure each patient receives the best treatment plan for their general oral health and cosmetic needs.
